What is so special about deadstock?
What is deadstock lace?
This is not clearance or seconds stock.
It is first-quality lace, preserved rather than produced again.
Deadstock refers to beautiful materials that already exist in the world but were never used. In our case, this lace was originally produced decades ago for fashion houses, dressmakers, or manufacturers — then carefully stored away when styles changed, factories closed, or collections moved on.
It’s not seconds.
It’s not damaged.
It’s simply left behind.
Our deadstock lace has been resting in storage for years — sometimes generations — waiting for a new story.
Why our deadstock lace is special
The lace we stock is genuinely vintage or vintage-era, with patterns, textures, and craftsmanship that are rarely produced today. Many of these designs were made on old looms using techniques that are now expensive, slow, or no longer commercially viable.
Once a style is gone, it’s truly gone.
That means:
-
Limited quantities (sometimes just a few metres)
-
No restocks
-
No mass production
-
Every piece is a little bit rare
A more thoughtful way to create
Choosing deadstock lace is also a more conscious choice. By using existing materials rather than producing new ones, you’re helping reduce textile waste and giving forgotten fabrics a second life.
It’s sustainability through preservation — honouring what already exists.
